Hawai`i Convention Center to Host Rotary Global Peace Forum

The Hawai`i Convention Center is hosting the Rotary Global Peace Forum from Jan. 25-27, 2013.  The forum is an opportunity for people of different ages to share ideas and develop strategies to progress toward a more peaceful world, protect environmental resources, and encourage young adults to believe they can be catalysts for global peace.

The conference will feature keynote speaker Aung San Suu Kyi, Nobel Peace laureate and chairperson of the National League for Democracy in Burma, who received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1991, while serving what was eventually 15 years under house arrest.  It will also feature numerous workshops led by international peace experts and well-known Hawai`i speakers, including Hawaiian storyteller Pua Kanahele and Nainoa Thompson of the Polynesian Voyaging Society.

The Rotary Global Peace Forum is one of three international gatherings convened by the global humanitarian service organization to advance peace and understanding throughout the world.
