The VEX Robotics Summer Games, an international student competition, is at the Hawai`i Convention Center from July 10-12, 2014. The free event is open to the public on Friday and Saturday. Participating this year are more than 100 elementary, middle and high school teams from seven countries including: Canada, China, Colombia, Egypt, Lebanon, Mexico and the United States. Participating students have a passion for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) and a drive to win the title for their school, state, and country.
The event is organized by Friends of Hawai`i Robotics in conjunction with the Hawai`i State VEX Steering Committee and the REC Foundation. The competition is sponsored and presented by Oceanic Time Warner Cable, the US Navy, and the Northrop Grumman Foundation. Verizon will showcase VGo – a telepresent robot that helps expand the educational experience for students almost anywhere – and other innovative wireless education solutions.
