The Hawaii Convention Center is pleased to offer a comprehensive health and safety program developed by leading venue and event management company, ASM Global, to ensure the highest levels of cleanliness and safety for our staff, guests, and communities.
In compliance with guidelines established by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the State of Hawaii Department of Health, these extensive measures will include enhanced cleaning and sanitation for high touch point surfaces, body temperature screening, the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), modified food and beverage operations, the increased availability of hand sanitizer dispensers, special signage and social distancing guidelines.
We will continue to monitor guidance from public health officials and will work closely with individual event planners to customize health and safety measures to their specific meeting needs. While some of our protocols have changed, we will continue to provide a world-class meetings experience with legendary service, shaped by the spirit of aloha.

Enhanced Cleaning and Sanitation: Hawai‘i Convention Center will have a designated sanitation team which will routinely sanitize high-touch point surfaces throughout the Center, including door handles, railings and elevator buttons. Chairs, tables and podiums throughout the Center will be sanitized daily with CDC-compliant products.
Body Temperature Screening: Points of entry may be limited depending upon the nature of the event. Members of our security team will conduct temperature checks using a sanitized quick-read temporal thermometer. Anyone displaying a temperature over 100.4 degrees F will be taken to a private area for a secondary temperature screening. Employees or guests confirmed to have a temperature over 100.4 degrees will be evaluated by medical personnel, and assistance will be provided in finding proper medical care, if necessary. Event organizers will be notified.
PPE: Face masks will be required. Guests may bring their own masks, or event organizers may provide masks for their attendees. All employees, vendors, and subcontractors will be required to use masks and any other necessary PPE equipment.
Modified Food and Beverage (F&B) Operations: The Center’s Food and Beverage team will work with event organizers to customize menus and F&B service in accordance with safety regulations. There will be no buffet service and only individual pre-packaged food and beverage service will be available.
Hand Sanitizer Dispensers: Hand sanitizer dispensers will be placed at key guest and employee entrances and throughout the facility.
Special Signage: Health and safety reminders are placed throughout the Center to communicate proper hygiene practices, including regular hand washing and instructions for guests who do not feel well.
Social Distancing Guidelines: Guests will be advised to practice social distancing by standing at least 6 feet away from others who are not traveling with them. The Center will work with event organizers to help direct the flow of traffic throughout the building and place lines marking proper spacing in any areas that may form queues. Event organizers will be encouraged to limit registration workers to one person per counter. Meeting room configurations will be adjusted to adhere to physical distancing guidelines. This change may limit the number of attendees allowed in each meeting room or exhibit hall.
Shared Audiovisual (AV) Equipment: AV companies will be required to sanitize shared equipment (microphones, laptops, mice, keyboards, clickers, etc) between each use. Click HERE to view additional AV Protocols and best practices by Projection.

Case Notification: The Hawai‘i Tourism Authority and the Hawai‘i Convention Center have a designated liaison with the State of Hawaii Department of Health. If we are alerted to a presumptive case of COVID-19 at the Center, we will work with health officials to follow the appropriate protocol.
